Fall 2009

I see new things on uppers...
I am talking about elevators, not drugs.
On a daily basis my only source to what’s going on out side of my own head is from the little projector on the elevator. I get the weather, politics, stock, even the latest celebrity gossip in my 1 ½ minute ride. Did you know Kevin Federline had bar-b-que at Britney’s house?
Regardless,
When did it come to this? Has time become so valuable to advertisers that one cannot stand in a public space without being a corporate target?
Obviously not, and the architecture around us proves it.
It engages us .
It surrounds us.
It is engulfing us exponentially.
At the same time, it inspires us to look at the ordinary and interpenetrate something extraordinary.
It provides and outlet to be a part of something bigger then yourself.
And encourage designers to think beyond the box.
So I will tolerate the parasitic corporate pests
pushing ads down my throat, if it means that I can stumble upon beautiful design within it.
